Discretionary Funds
The Wellness Coalition - Avalon East can provde Discretionary Funds to members. The amount of money allocated will be determined annually by the Steering Committee and be included in the annual budget. Requests must be received in writing, indicating specifically what the funds will be used for. Click here to download the application form.
All Discretionary Funds are bound by the following guidelines.
- Requests may not exceed $100.00.
- The Steering Committee Co-chair(s) may approve the request.
- Members may make a request up to two times during the fiscal year though the total amount received may not exceed $100.00.
- Upon approval, funds will be issued to the applicant on a reimbursement basis, following submission of receipts.
- Funds may not be requested to supplement monies received or support projects under the Wellness Coalition-Avalon East Community Grants Program or the Provincial Wellness Grants Program.
- Requests to be considered should center around one of the wellness priority areas:
- healthy eating
- physical activity
- tobacco control
- injury prevention
- mental health promotion
- environmental health
- child and youth development
- health protection
- health and literacy
- Examples include, but are not limited to:
- nutritious snacks, water, juices etc. for community walks or fun days
- garbage bags for a community clean-up
- transportation, child care, or respite costs to attend a community wellness activity
- postage incurred to advertise an event or distribute health promotion information
- film and processing expenses used to capture a wellness event
